Our Story So Far.

Fire Hospitality was founded in May 2018 by Rodney Burt and Michael Carter, two passionate Recruiters with a specialisation in Hospitality. They not only had extensive experience in recruiting but also had spent a significant part of their careers working in the Hospitality industry.


Initially focused on Permanent Recruitment, Fire Hospitality quickly attracted numerous inquiries for Temporary Front of House positions. To meet this demand, we promptly established a Temporary Recruitment division, which experienced rapid growth. In late 2018, Jadon Connis joined us as Co-owner/Director to spearhead the creation of a chefs division.


Month after month, Fire Hospitality achieved remarkable growth, setting new records consistently. However, in March 2020, the Coronavirus Pandemic struck, and the Hospitality industry was abruptly shut down. As a business, we witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of this crisis.


During the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, we recognised a valuable opportunity to offer our services to care homes and hospitals by providing cleaners, chefs, and general assistants. To ensure the suitability of our hospitality employees for working in a healthcare environment, we took the initiative to retrain and process Enhanced DBS checks for them. As a result, we established Fire Healthcare, a dedicated division that caters to clients with a requirement for completed DBS checks. At Fire Healthcare, we exclusively handle Enhanced DBS processing for our staff and diligently manage them on the update service to ensure their compliance.


In addition, we also faced a national shortage of agricultural workers during this time, exacerbated by the impact of Brexit. Given our strategic location in the south, we received numerous inquiries seeking our assistance. To address this need, we obtained our Gangmasters License and launched Fire Foodchain. This specialised business supplies the agricultural, food processing, and industrial sectors.

Rodney Burt

Sales Director 

Rodney embarked on his professional journey in the Hospitality industry, initially as a Kitchen Porter at the prestigious Meon Valley Country Club. He swiftly climbed the career ladder and assumed the role of Hotel Manager at the esteemed Hilton International in Southampton. In 1999, Rodney decided to venture into the world of Recruitment, commencing his journey as a Consultant and steadily progressing to become the esteemed Business Director. Through his unwavering dedication and astute decision-making, Rodney successfully expanded the business, achieving an impressive £8 million turnover through both temporary and permanent operations. 

Michael Carter

Finance Director

Mike began his professional journey as a Kitchen porter, gradually honing his skills as a chef and advancing to the Front of House in various restaurants and bars. Along the way, he also gained expertise in Cocktail and flair Bartending, which proved invaluable during his years at sea working on cruise ships and exploring different corners of the world. In addition, Mike has acquired valuable management experience in the Leisure and Hospitality sectors. In 2015, he transitioned into the role of a Recruitment Consultant, specialising in Front of House recruitment. Later, he shifted his focus to Chef Recruitment, specifically specialising in Sous & Head Chef positions within the Surrey, Hertfordshire, and Berkshire regions. 

Anthony Cook

Perms Director

Anthony began his culinary journey in the British Army, where he honed his skills over a decade of service and multiple international deployments. He then transitioned to Head Chef positions in high-end hotels and AA Rosette-rated restaurants, ultimately culminating in his role as the former head chef for BMW. After stepping away from the kitchen, Anthony leveraged his expertise as a chef in to becoming a Chef recruitment specialist, collaborating with top-tier agencies in London. Inspired by his industry peers, Anthony made the decision to establish his own agency alongside his experienced colleagues.
