We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, highly rated care home for an experienced Chef to join their catering team. This is a permanent, full-time role within a supportive environment that prides itself on high standards of care and nutrition.

The Role
The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking nutritious, high-quality meals from fresh ingredients, ensuring residents’ dietary, cultural, and medical needs are met. This role plays a key part in delivering person-centred care through food.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook fresh meals from raw ingredients in line with set menus
  • Deliver traditional English cuisine using seasonal rotating menus
  • Cater for special diets, modified food textures, and individual requirements
  • Prepare desserts, cakes, and pastries as required
  • Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen assistants and the wider care team
  • Support catering for special occasions and themed events
  • Ensure correct food storage, labelling, and stock rotation
  • Comply with health & safety, infection control, and HACCP requirements
Hours & Working Pattern
  • 36 hours per week
  • Daytimes
  • Every other weekend off
  • Set rota - 2 week rota shift pattern
Skills & Experience
Essential:
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience as a Cook or Chef
  • Proven experience working in a professional kitchen
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene
  • Experience preparing meals from scratch from raw ingredients
Desirable:
  • Experience in a care or nursing home environment
  • Experience with special diets and modified food consistencies
Qualifications
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
  • Enhanced DBS check (required – can be completed upon offer)
